What Does Acupuncture Cure? The Ethics of Treatment

What Does Acupuncture Cure? The Ethics of Treatment

www.evolvewellness.com  /  www.EvolveWellnessFoundation.org

What does Acupuncture Cure?
It’s a straight forward question, and as much as we don't like to say it, we can’t give you a straight forward answer. Members of the Traditional Chinese Medical Council of Ireland (T.C.M.C.I.) I adhere to a VERY strict set of ethics and guidelines. One of these is to NEVER promise to cure anything. Why?

As explained in the “Theory of Acupuncture – A detailed look at the underlying concepts of Acupuncture” Acupuncture is a reactive medicine. This means each individual reacts differently to another – in the same way one might react extremely favorably to a western pharmaceutical drug, whereas someone else may react with less benefit. Each individual is different and it is unethical and unfair to promise a “cure” for any condition.

It’s a fundamental fact that while everyone can benefit from Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, some people will have a better and far more dramatic reaction than others. This may seem like a “cop out”, but it is the truth.

Here is the actual guideline in the TCMCI code of ethics (You can read the entire code of ethics here), regarding the question of “What does Acupuncture Cure?” –

a) You may advertise your services as a practitioner by referring to your ability to treat conditions, as published by The World Health Organisation that are effectively treated with Acupuncture.

b) You must never suggest that any condition can be cured, in advertising, literature, notepaper or verbally.

it is helpful for both the practitioner and patient to have a common and clear understanding of the nature of their complaint. Furthermore patients have felt it very empowering to have an explanation for their condition from a Chinese Medical perspective.

Acupuncture treatments is recommended for many ailments such as:
( ... ) Depression, Anxiety, Weight Loss, Quit Smoking, Drug Addiction, Infertility, Male Infertility, Pregnancy, Nausea, Heartburn, Constipation, Varicose Veins, Urinary Tract, Muscular Pain, Fatigue, Anemia, Insomnia, Acne, Acne with Acupuncture, Athletes,  Insomnia,  Anxiety
Sports Injury, Tennis Elbow, Sleep Apnea,  Psoriasis , Allergies,  Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, Spinal Stenosis, Bipolar, Pain, High Blood Pressure ( ... )

Traditional Chinese Medicine relies heavily on imagery taken and developed from the observances of nature.Conditions are often described in beautiful, picturesque, yet accurate language that gives an insight into both the nature of a complaint and the possible treatments.

So although one can’t answer the question of ‘What does Acupuncture Cure?” acupuncturists can explain some of their thought process in diagnosing some of these more common conditions and outline some of the preferred treatment plans. Of course these are very general outlines and SHOULD NEVER be taken as medical advice. Always stay in close contact with the patients primary care physician. .

Traditional Asian Medicine (TAM) is the only medicine today for which clinical results have been recorded in writing for over 2000 years. The World Health Organization estimates that more people worldwide use acupuncture more than any other form of health care.

TAM views a person as an energy system in which body, spirit and mind are unified, each influencing and balancing the other. Based on thousands of years of clinical results, it has been scientifically documented that this energy, qi, flows through us in twelve major organ channels. As long as this energy flows freely throughout the channels, health is maintained. But once the flow of energy is blocked, the system is disrupted and pain and illness occur.

Acupuncture is the use of painless, ultra-fine disposable needles which are inserted at specific points of the body to very precisely redirect the flow of qi.

There are over three hundred sixty acupoints on the body. Each has its own specific function. Depending on the desired effect, different techniques can be used to either stimulate, sedate, or regulate the flow of qi. A typical insertion can last from fifteen to forty minutes, sometimes more, sometimes less depending on the desired outcome.

After a treatment, most patients feel relaxed and rejuvenated with partial or total relief of major symptoms treated. Ultimately, acupuncture decreases the body’s stress and inflammatory response (sympathetic dominance) and allows the body to operate in a more relaxed, healthy state.

A stressed body and mind is much more susceptible to illness and disease. A body/mind/spirit at ease remains healthy and strong.

What is MEDITATION ? Live a better & authentic life - www.evolvewellness.com

enjoy meditation + yoga classes in the tea garden daily 50min 9am + 10am classes (max 6)

Meditation is one of the important art that any individual can learn in his life.

In fact, meditation should be taught as part of education. Because its themeditation which in fact transforms the actions of any person. Education only teach us the mean to earn our living but meditation helps us in living a betterand authentic life.

Meditation can be practiced by any person.Age,religion, profession does not matter. Meditation is such a basic thing that any one can practice it. Meditationis a very simple phenomena and can be easily learnt if some one is really sincere to practice it.

Meditation in the purest sense is to live in the present moment. Meditation can be called the art of living in this very moment with out drifting into past or future. Meditation is not a separate activity that should be practiced at any specific hour but meditation is some thing which adds grace and beauty to our actions. Meditation is the art of doing any action in totality. Meditation is to be aware or fully conscious of our thoughts, feelings, desires and actions.

In simple words, Any thing done with awareness is meditation. Awarenessmeans to be aware of our body movements, thoughts and feelings.

Or in simple words, what ever we do we are fully conscious of our actions. Most of the time, we keep on doing our daily things like a robot but our mind keeps on thinking about some thing or the other. But in meditation whatever action or duty we perform, our attention is in the act or in the present moment. So meditationis the art of doing any thing with full attention or consciousness in that act.

In other words, we can say that meditation breaks the mechanical activity of ourlife. It brings more aliveness and grace in our action as we are fully consciouswhile doing it. Unfortunately, we have this habit of doing things mechanically for so many lives. So it takes time and effort to break this habit and become moreconscious of our action.

Many meditation techniques are devised to help in this regard, so that we learn the knack of being fully conscious in our actions. Meditation technique are an aid for a beginner and in the end they should be dropped and one should simply become aware of one's actions and thoughts.

For a beginner it is advisable to start practicing meditation every day for at least 30 to 60 minutes. But slowly the meditator should bring this meditative quality in the daily actions too. Meditation flowers in our life as we become more conscious in our actions.

It takes time to learn meditation and also demands our attention, sincerity and patience.
